Non-woven Cores

LantorLANTORnl Composites

The Lantor range of polyester non-woven flexible Cores are widely used within the Composites Industry in either open mould or closed mould manufacturing processes. Lantor Coremat®, Lantor Soric® and Lantor Finishmat® are registered trade marks of LANTOR COMPOSITES and are distributed throughout Australia by NUPOL Composites.

Lantor Coremat®
Coremat is a polyester non-woven that contains microspheres and is used as a thin core or print blocker in an open mould laminate application. The microspheres within Coremat prevent excessive resin build-up and result in:

  • Weight savings in the laminate
  • Reduction in Resin and Glass
  • Increased stiffness in the laminate
  • Rapid laminate thickness build-up
  • Excellent surface finish of completed components

Coremat is available in either XM or Xi grades ranging in thickness from 1mm to 5mm – special orders up to 10mm on XM.

Lantor Soric®
Soric is a polyester non-woven material with a compression resistant hexagonal or random dot printed cell structures containing synthetic microspheres designed to establish pressure resistant cells to ensure positive resin flow under vacuum. The synthetic microsphere cells are impervious to resin, develop a resin flow channel and are compression resistant. Advantages of Soric in closed mould manufacturing include:

  • Excellent mould drapability and use in contoured applications
  • Efficient resin flow medium
  • Increased stiffness in the laminate
  • Reduction in Resin and Glass
  • Weight savings in the laminate
  • Excellent surface finish

Soric is available in four grades:

  • TF – often used as a dual print block and flow medium
  • SF – used in thin laminates providing a good balance between print block and flow medium
  • XF – fastest flow medium of the Soric range and maximises weight reduction in laminates
  • LRC – new to the Soric range designed to further reduce resin consumption whilst adding component stiffness

Soric is available in thicknesses ranging from 1mm to 6mm

Lantor Finishmat®
Finishmat is designed to provide excellent surface finish and to increase chemical resistance through a resin rich layer behind the gelcoat surface when used in a closed mould application.

NUPOL Composites distributes the D7760 and D7780 range of Finishmat which are needled felt material made of polyacrylonitrile fibres specifically designed for Vacuum Infusion, RTM and RTM Lite applications.
