Akzo Nobel

Nupol Composites is the official Australian distributor for Akzo Nobel’s catalysts which are used in the composites industry for making items like boats, pools, truck and rail components, aerospace products, vanity tops, tanks, pipes and many other items. The Akzo Nobel catalyst range includes brands like Butanox and Trigonox and as the world’s largest catalyst manufacturer, Akzo Nobel takes special pride in manufacturing high quality catalysts along with their safe storage and use.

Storage

Catalysts should be stored in their original packing at 25° C max, unless otherwise indicated on the label and must be protected from all sources of heat like a naked flame or direct sunlight to avoid a possible fire and/or explosion. Storage with other chemicals especially accelerators or promoters must also be avoided.

Handling and safe use

Always wear safety goggles and protective gloves since catalysts have a corrosive effect on eyes and skin. Avoid contamination of the catalyst with things like fiberglass dust, metals, chemicals etc to eliminate a possible fire and/or explosion.

More details on the safe storage and handling of catalysts is found in the Akzo Nobel Catalyst Safety Poster available through Nupol Composites.
